ONE VERY SPECIAL WOMAN...

This is her day...

a day we celebrate all that she is. She is my mother...and today is her Birthday! Mom always liked Cardinals, so I chose a few of my favorite captures to accompany her here.

Mom is the most caring, thoughtful and loving woman that I know. She is the very definition of mother. She has given so much to each of us in my family, on so many levels. Inner strength, compassion, and a sense of humor define her. Her entire life she dedicated herself, unselfishly, to our family.
Mom has been a big part of Wishnik Woods...she has supported this dream of ours and had helped out in the building process. I don't know where she gets it, but she has an amazing amount of energy! Just last summer, Mom was out in the woods swinging on vines with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren! She's a real fire cracker!
I decided to post her photo ( it's a current one, she ages gracefully!)today on her birthday because she faithfully reads my blog...AND all of yours!! I call her "Shadow Dragon" for that reason! We live three counties apart, and mom will e-mail me with comments about all of your posts. So, if you've left a comment here...you can be sure she has checked out your blog!

So...Mom...SURPRISE!?!...I hope you're not mad at me!! I hope you have a wonderful birthday today!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I LOVE YOU!!! XOXOXOXOXOXO

Your mother looks and sounds terrific. You're a lucky daughter. Of course you sound pretty terrific yourself, so she's a lucky mother too.

What a nice tribute to your mom. Happy Birthday to her. She sounds like someone I'd like to know!

Mo...JGH...I think we have the same eyes, hers are brown/hazel and mine are green... but most people say that we have the same eyes. Our smile is pretty much the same, too. She's someone that you would enjoy being around, she's a fun person! I've been trying to get her to leave comments on blogs, but mom's very leary of the whole internet thing!

Thank you both for dropping by and her Birthday wishes!

How sweet to honor your Mom that way. Tell her I to send her birthday wishes from...where else...Peek-A-Boo Street! =) Like I said before, if she ever gets a blog, I'll be her biggest fan!! =)Oh what do you know...Cardinals are my favorite birds to!! =)

Anne said...

OMG! OMG!!!!! If your viewers click on that first pic of your Cardinal, what will they see? I seen it! Buds! And we all know what that means!! Ahhh spring! We don't get those buds till February. But even then, we won't begin to see leaves till about May.

Just one more thing, lol. Just looked at the first female cardinal picture and clicked on it. You can actually see the snow on the little gal w/ the snow coming down. What a beautiful pic!!! Sorry to have bugged ya again, lol. Have a great weekend!

Hi Anne...You had me laughing! I needed that, too! I had to click on all my pix to see what you were seeing...yep, won't be too much longer till spring! (Think positive, Kim!) I've told you before, mom loves your blog! Those first couple photos came out dark, but you know, I like them. Thank you for all the nice comments and the birthday wishes for my mother! You can "bug" me all you want, I enjoy your comments, Anne!

Dear Kim,
Your mom is beautiful, as are you. You will age well since you obviously have great genes;) I wish I could say the same:(

I hope your mom had a wonderful birthday, please send wishes from me as well;)

You are so fortunate to feel so close to your mom, and you live not 'too' far away...(I live 5 hrs. from mine)

I love the photo of that female cardinal, it's beak is wide open! It is just so cute!

PS That sweet friendship award you gave to me was so kind of you. I'm wondering, was I supposed to write a post about it? Am I supposed to give it to more people...I could do that, but I don't feel like I want to have a post on it. I have been thinking about who I could pass it on to, so I haven't been wasting time...I'm just getting to know everyone too. You are one I could give it right back to:) Is that allowed??? Thanks, friend:)

Happy Birthday to your Mom. I can see the resemblance too. It's wonderful that you surf the web together.

Pseudothemis...Thank you for dropping in and sending birthday wishes to mom!

Jan...Nothing wrong with your genes, they look pretty good to me! Confession...50% of my "genes" are L'oreal!! I like the Cardinal looking up to the sky, with my imagination, I imagine she's praying that the snow will soon stop!

Hey, no pressure with the award, do what you feel like. The thing with awards is...Although appreciated, I feel pressure when one is given to me, because you're supposed to pass it on. How do you chose just a few bloggers? Blogging should be fun, no strings attached! I'm personally not into awards, memes and photo challenges. The only reason I did a post was because the persons that passed it on to me did one. Since I passed you the award...I bend the rules (Don't I feel powerful!) you don't need to do a thing, just enjoy! Thank you for sending my mother birthday wishes and your nice comments!

Your mom is beautiful so I see where you get your beauty from! And how lovely of you to honor her w/ your beautiful photos of the cardinals which is such a cheerful, happy and beautiful bird in its own right.

A slightly belated Happy Birthday to Shadow Dragon!I hope you had a wonderful day.
Spookydragonfly you are so lucky to have such a great mum still around - it's just turned 18 years since my mum died and I still miss her every day. The stuff you said about your mum really reminded me of mine - and the relationship we had too.
Your mum sounds like great fun and the kind of person I'd like to know - do you think she's like to adopt me?!!!

Vicki...Machelle...Shellmo...Thank you for stopping by and the birthday wishes for Shadow Dragon! Mom really enjoyed all the birthday wishes! The Cardinals almost seemed to show facial expressions during the snowstorm! They turned out pretty good considering all the snow that was flying around. Once again, thanks for the visit and comments!

Hello Nutty Gnome...Thank you for the birthday wishes for mom! I'm sorry that your mom is longer with you physically...yet, I'm sure she is still all around you. My father passed away in 1994, and sometimes I swear I feel his presence. Adoption? Knowing Mom..yes she would! (you are past the diapers, school, teenage years!!) She is fun, if someone even suggests that she can't do something, she'll prove you wrong, or do her best trying! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

What a beautiful post!
Kim, your mother is too gorgeous to be a grandmom, let alone a great-grandmom! Great roots, Kim! No wonder you look like a 20-something yourself.
Happy Birthday, 'Shadow Dragon' ! You've done well, that's a very nice, loving daughter that you've raised :)

spookydragonfly said...

Hello Sunita...Like I said, Mom has always aged gracefully. More importantly, she is beautiful on the inside. She's had her share of rough knocks in life, I just wanted to let her know how much I appreciate her. And, uh...20 something?! That is a very small picture of me. L'oreal is my friend! Thanks for the visit and nice comments!
