My husband and I moved to the country and made our dream come true...we bought wooded property, cleared the land, built the cabin, grew every ornamental plant, added a waterfall and pond, by ourselves with some help of family and a few friends. The saying..."alot of blood, sweat and tears", holds so true here. I cannot get enough of natures' beauty..in this blog you will find some of Wishnik Woods small wonders..maybe... just maybe, you will enjoy seeing the fruits of our labor as I do.

They're lined up like cute little soldiers!!
Hi Shello...That's true...even later today, I saw seven up on that branch, along with a woodpecker hammering away! Thanks for the visit!
OOOPPPSSS!!!..Shell..Mo!
What a pleasant sight and capture!
I see that you are gradually turning a birder now....hmmmm.
Anyway, I am happy that you are enjoying your new camera. Off on my tour tomorrow! Wish me luck.
Hello Amila...I love that shot! I've always enjoyed the birds, and have had various feeders. This past summer we stopped filling the regular feeders due to our cats. Now that it's winter, I felt the majority of the birds would benefit from one of the feeders being filled. I haven't seen any cat attacks - yet.
Due to the fact that I only post photos from here in the woods and not elsewhere, I'm struggling for something to share at this time of year in my journal here. No shortage of birds!! Thanks for the visit...and I do wish you the best of luck on your tour! I always look forward to your finds!!
Oh look at that. A whole family of mourning doves. They look cold with their feathers all puffed up!
Hi Anne...It was a nice surprise. I think they were sunbathing to soak up some warmth!
I thought of your blog while on a road trip with my daughters to Florida last week. What incredible wildlife we saw. Was able to capture some of them with my camera.
I enjoy your work very much.
Hello Ann D...A road trip to Florida sounds wonderful right about now! I wish my girls would take me away on a trip like that! Thanks for stopping by and your comments. I'm off to visit you to see if you've posted any of your photos.
So sweet !
Just the family relaxing.
Morning dove seem to be so lackadaisical.
Never bothering anyone and always relaxed.
Word got around, huh? Looks like they're lined up for a class picture.
Hello Patsi...They are peaceful...just hanging out. I was trying to photograph a woodpecker doing his thing all around the doves. He didn't bother them a bit!
Hi JGH...You know those Doves...just can't keep anything to themselves!!
Thanks for stopping by Patsi and JGH.
What a perfect shot, Kim! I would have been grabbing my camera and worrying that they'd leave before I got the photo! I had a row of finches (about 7, I think) all lined up on the overhang of our porch and by the time I turned to get the camera...well, you know the rest of the story!
I get mourning doves every day, and I usually see 2 or 3 together...maybe 4...but never have they all lined up so beautifully! I'm so glad I came over today:)
Hi Jan...That photo was taken from inside the cabin, when I go outside they all take off. They scatter back a tree or two into the woods. Thanks for dropping by!
I love how they are so comfortable being with one another.
Bernie...They are comfortable with eachother as well as the other birds. With all the other birds, here and there I've seen them jump or attack eachother. Not the doves, they have the "Live and Let Live" attitude it seems. Thanks for stopping by.
