NOVEMBER BEGINS IN THE WOODS...

November started out with unseasonably warm weather, reaching the 60's. The birds were chirping and I still was able to watch my dragonflies...you might have thought it was early spring, if not for the sparse autumn colors that are scattered here and there. A few days last week I witnessed snow flurries and plummeting temperatures. Saturday was the first, the skies couldn't decide on bright and sunny or just plain cloudy. The result made for some interesting reflections on the pond. Not much color in the first photo, but the stark contrasts kept me planted on the wooden bench just admiring the view for quite awhile. If I hadn't mentioned the skies mood, wouldn't you have assumed this was the moon reflecting?

This is my Hydrangea tree showing off her late fall colors...for the most part, the sage greens are gone and now they're a beautiful blending of gold and just a hint of pink.

The Meadowhawk dragonflies seemed happy to be out and about after the cold spell. The fallen autumn leaves really compliment the red dragon. The backdrop of the pond and the silhouette of the bare branched trees just makes this image perfect!

Even a few butterflies were enjoying the warm weather...now I 'm really not sure what the norm is for these beauties...but I was somewhat surprised to see them after the few days of snow flurries. The underside of this butterfly's wings were a pale yellow.
Just another reflection photo, the combination of the blues, the blacks and maroon offer a dramatic effect. I am always looking forward on my walks to see what the pond surface colors are...as they change throughout the day with the changing sky.
Oops!!... Is that another dragonfly?! Sorry, I just love them...can't possibly have enough!

Very early in the morning...There's the blue and black with red this time. I love being outside so early in the morning...it makes me feel like I am truly one with nature. It's a good time to just soak up the calm and get ready to start a new day.

Good morning.
The encounter with you and nature leaves really various masterpieces for blog.
I want to praise your work world heartily. However, I do not have enough vocabulary by the language of the your country. I cannot hide irritating thought.
As your work resembles woven cloth and passes through time, the cloth adds to beauty. It is the birth of a splendid textile.

Congrats on the award!!
Love the hydrangea this time of year.
The ponds/creeks on your property must be wonderful. There's something relaxing about water.

Oh, Kim....regarding your response about bloglinks.....what I really should should have said is "blogroll". Because I miss being able to visit your favorite bloggers.

Hello Pseudothemis...I'm glad you enjoy seeing Wishnik Woods through my eyes. In the beginning of this blog, I basically started it as a journal for myself and family. I felt this would also be nice to have in the event that we had to move. It is so nice to connect with others who also enjoy and "feel" nature as I do. I do give you alot of credit trying to communicate in our language...I do appreciate your efforts.

Hello Patsi...Thank you for your comments. The pond offers me so much more enjoyment than I anticipated. That's probably a good thing...I am suffering from some spinal conditions this last almost two years. It's affected my gardening abilities and I've been trying to deal with that emotionally. Gardening is a true passion for me, so these past couple of spring/summers have been really tough. This has shown in my gardens...they aren't what they used to be.

In answer to my blogroll...I will get to it eventually. Everything on this computer is more of a chore, depending on our connection...I can be working on something and ...boom...I lose it! Once in a while I get lucky with no problems, but that's seldom the case. You should see how many times it takes, and how long, just to do a simple post! I don't want to put the big bucks down for high speed internet, what we use the internet for is not worth the additional cost.

Nice to "meet" you and your blog! My grandmother was from Ohio -- she lived on the bay in Sandusky and and also loved dragonfly watching so I always think of her when I see them. Enjoyed your beautiful photos. The halloween ones are really special.

Hello Jgh...Nice to "Meet" you too! Thanks for the comments and visit. I know my grandchildren will always think of me when they see a dragonfly! Sounds like you have some nice memories of your Grandma. I haven't been to Sandusky in years. Now...YOU, have some fine Halloween photos!

I can't help saying I love your photos each time. I feel like looking through a beautiful mind and sharp eye of an amazing artist. Since we're talking jealousy now, I'm forever jealous of your dragonflies. I just love those wee angelic creatures, but sadly, don't have any in my area. It takes a river trip for me to finally enjoy the company of the lil choppers ;-)

Hello Viooltje...Thank you! Oh, I wish you had the dragons by you! They are such beautiful small creatures to watch. You can adopt mine...how's that?! I can't wait until next spring, I am going to aggressively try to capture in photo as many species as I can to I.D. I enjoyed your place of "calm" in your last post!

Your photos are so beautiful. That "moonish" reflection is great, almost like a shine on a steel surface. Great colors, too.

It's sad to know that all these creatures are living their last day. But in a way, that makes them all the more precious.

spookydragonfly said...

Hello Vicki...It does make them more special. Some dragons migrate south, reproduce, die, and their offspring return. Only 2% of all varieties of North America's dragons migrate south. Thanks for the visit and good luck with the move!

Hello Pseudothemis...Thank you, maybe others without high speed internet will be able to enjoy your blog as I do, too. Great photo from last December on your most recent post! Yesterday, I still saw the Meadowhawks, none today.
