SPELLBOUND...

Need I say more?...Standing on my porch was this view, it was as if the trees themselves were holding the full moon captive. This was taken very early this morning as the sun was just beginning to rise on the opposite side of the woods.

The clouds gracefully moved across the sky in their finest shades of peaches, pinks and grays. This point here was between the full moon resisting is setting, and the sunrise barely rising over the back hill...

and the new dawn begins...

I couldn't decide which to post, so both are shown, this was the capture prior to cropping. The glow on the underside of the clouds was just heavenly.

These next three photos were from this weekend, as I gaze at the moon in awe, it's hard not to feel as if I'm under it's spell. My mind clears of all else...I'm totally drawn into it's mystery. I'm in solitary confinement with nature...totally surrounded by the crisp, dark night. Comforted by the towering, silhouetted trees of the woods, as the moon casts her spell on me.

One more sunset coloring the sky.

For some reason, love the barren trees. I see what you mean about spellbound. Great captures!
Mornings are amazing.

Katarina...Thanks for the visit, it was a great weekend for photos! Especially when it comes to a full moon!

Hi Patsi...Thank you..I love the barren trees on a dark, stormy sky or such as in these photos against a gorgeous background. Now, on a normal cold, cloudy day...I don't find them quite so fascinating. That's when I long for spring!

Spectacular! So many great shots of the moon!

Shellmo...Thanks, I better not look up to the sky for awhile! I'll have to rename my blog...if I keep going at this rate with the moon shots! Thanks for stopping back!

SD: Excellant sky shots, if you enjoy sky shots you should think about joining Sky Watch Friday on Thurday afternoons. We show a lot of great skies throut the world.

Great shots! The moon is so big and bright! I took some of the moon a couple of days ago and haven't posted them yet. I haven't even downloaded them off the camera yet;) But, I don't think they will be as awesome as yours!! Really nice! Jan

Kim, I wish you would give me lessons on night photography. Your photos are exceptional!
Its a good thing your children are grown up, hmm? I cant imagine anyone being able to do anything but gaze at all his beauty! :)

Hello Bernie...Thank you, it's such a great feeling to stand by the pond and look one way to see the moonset...then look the other direction and see the sunrise. I really enjoyed your pelican captures! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Fishing Guy...Thank you, I sure do enjoy photographing the sky. Always something new to enjoy there! I'll give your offer thought. You know, you may know my brother who lives up in the Cleveland area...he's on complete disability now, up until a few years ago he was a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. I read your profile. Thanks for the visit!

Hi Jan...I'm on moon overload right now...I look forward to seeing your moon views! I'm sure they'll be great! Thanks for stopping in!

Hello Sunita...Thank you..yes all of our children are grown and don't live with us. A few years back, my dtr., son-in-law, and grandkids moved in with us. They were going to build out here, that plan changed and they moved back to the Cleveland area. I would always take my grandkids outside and point out various wonders of nature. You don't need lessons...everyone should check out your December Skies post...AWESOME photos! Thanks for the visit!

The moon was gorgeous these past few days! I tried getting a nice photo but was unsuccessful. Moon photos are really tough, but you've definitely mastered them!

Richard said...

Beautiful pictures. I like the first one best.

spookydragonfly said...

Hi JGH...I haven't mastered anything!! I took so-o-o many shots and I switched from manual-then to night landscape, etc. Out of all those shots a few turned out pretty good...BUT...I'll take the compliment and run with it! Thanks for visiting!!

Hi Richard...Thank you! The clouds did have such a deep peach/pink to them...I didn't add to that color! You can see in the photo of just the sky(between the moonset and sunrise), where the pinks and grays lighten and the blues are lighter/brighter moving towards the sunrise. I wonder what exactly causes the pink tinged clouds? I, too, was partial to that one! Thanks for the visit!

Thank you for the nice comment about the pictures on my blog. You got some beautiful pictures here yourself. Your picture of the moon was so clear, you could see some of the markings of the moon. It does have a majestic feel to it. Thanks for becoming a follower on my blog. Have a good day. :-)

Oh spooky, your shots of the sunrise (& sunset)and the moon are just gorgeous! What a beautiful morning to wake up to. My favorite subjects to paint are sunsets and/or sunrises.
Are you still painting? Keep up the good work. Your pastel of the flowers & butterfly is beautiful.
Have a blessed week. G G :)

Anne..Thank you. Finally, after several attempts, I'm able to follow you!! It's our connection and we don't have high-speed. I loved your last post with the series of sunset captures! Thanks for stooping by!

Joey...Thank you for the nice comment and dropping in!

Hello Graceanne....I sure would like to see some of those subjects mentioned that you have painted in a post?! I'm sorry, but I think you have me confused with one of Bakers' visitors, she painted one of his photos(?). She did do a nice job! I started back into my painting a couple of months ago, currently I have three unfinished canvases! After the holidays, I'm sure I'll get back into it. Thanks for the visit and tell Baker that I said, "hello!"

Hi Racquel....I don't have the December blooms as you do! I have to rely on the moon! Thank you for the comments and stopping by!

Hello It's Time...Thank you, I'm struggling at this time of year for something rather than the bare trees to photograph...although they have something to offer in their own right. Thanks for visiting and the comments! I'm off to visit you.
