We have felt the cold air and the snow flurries on sparse days of November...
that was until yesterday when winter came barrelling through the woods, his frigid breath pounding on the cabin...then proceeded to properly introduce himself! Howling winds raged through the trees, temperatures dipped in the teens during the night, and big, fluffy snowflakes raced in circles every which way!
He is here, in all his glory...
and from the looks of it, plans to make himself at home!

Did you really catch snow flakes?
Wow !!!!!
Very cool Photos !
Hi Patsi...Thanks, I have to admit, I wasn't trying to capture a snowflake, but I did, nonetheless! (he-he!) I was excited when I saw them...I thought the same thing...WOW!
What fantastic pictures ! Thank you so much for dropping by my blog .. I am totally in love with the sky night and day, so when I get an opportunity to take some striking pictures .. I love it !
You have some stunning pictures yourself : )
Hello GardenJoy...Thanks for the visit and comments! Yes, sounds like we both have an admiration for skyscapes...the everchanging clouds are quite fascinating! My favorite times to watch are during storms and moonlit nights.
Kim, those photos are outrageously beautiful! Seriously! If I wasnt so partial to my tropical climate I would've left eveything to come and stand with you on your porch and watch Ol' Man Winter moving in.
WOW...you have an amazing blog that reflects something that we (me and my wife) want to do after retirement.
We plan to build this place close to wilderness (read forests) slowly and then move in when we retire.
Many of your posts like wishing well garden, Proof of fairies, A masterpiece, As the season ages, True colors, Time to reflect are truly amazing.
Your passion of dragonflies is seen in this blog as well though you have dedicated a exclusive blog for the same.
PS : Thanks for dropping by our blog, else we would not had the opportunity to visit your paradise.
By the way, what camera, lens do you use ?
Cheers...Thomas
Those are terrific pictures of winter! Is it really winter already...I'm not prepared for winter yet.
I'm starting up a new meme for Fridays - Blooming Friday - it would be great if you would like to participate with one or two pictures of blooming plants. I thought it would be nice to share eye-candy for the week-end... Welcome!
Katarina
Hello T & S...Thank you for dropping by and the nice comments. Wishnik Woods is a dream come true for us, we planned on moving here after retirement, but I couldn't wait! Best of luck to you both when you start building! I use a simple Kodak Easyshare camera, but would like to upgrade slightly next year. I've found that I love photographing nature.
To the visitors...T & S have quite an amazing blog dedicated to the natural treasures of India, simply beautiful photography! You might want to check it out!
Hello Sunita...Thanks! That would've been a nice visit! I love having a big porch to watch nature in her rage! If I were you, I'd want to stay in that tropical climate, too!
Hi Katarina...Thanks for popping in and the comments! The sad part is, it's not officially winter, but in my neck of the woods, it's not uncommon for this kind of snow in November. I assume the photos for blooming Friday are of the past season?! I certainly have no blooms left now!
Oh! You better watch out,
You better not cry,
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why:
Santa Claus is coming to town!
Gallicissa...I didn't know you had such a great singing voice! I'm sure all of you... tropical climate folks, are just plain jealous of our snow and icicles!!
Oh I just love your pictures. Winter is my favorite season. It's such a beautful time of year. Watching the snow is so peacful isn't it? I could just sit at my table all day with a cup of something hot to drink just watching the snow flakes fall to the ground.
What magical pictures today! I can't believe you actually captured a snowflake and all it's intricate beauty on camera!
Hi Peek-A-Boo...Thank you! I love watching the snow, too. Especially the big fluffy ones when they're falling slow and heavy! I can't say that winter is my favorite season, though!
Hello Raquel...Thank you, there are alot of magical moments in the winter season, aren't there?! We just have to look for the magic sometimes. At times like this, I have to whine about not having a good camera, that shot could've been so much better!(I'm as bad as a little kid!).
you captured the beauty of a snowfall beautifully! Not one ice sculpture here yet but LOTS of the white stuff!
A beautiful post!
Hello Naturegirl...Thanks for the visit and comments! Oh, yes...lots of ice and white stuff here! I just love icicles, especially as the temperature warms it bit, then freezes again. I like to watch them grow...I enjoyed the moonbeam glow through icicles in this post! Of course, I know they're not good for the wear and tear of ones' roof!
I love that second shot, with the color of the ice and the black background, but I'm blown away that you actually got lacy snowflakes! Your commentary is lovely too. What a great entry!
Winter came all of a sudden this year, didn't it?
Hi Vicki...Thank you so much! The second photo is my favorite, too, hence, Winters' Icy Grip....it just seems that if it were a possibility, that's what winters' hand may look like! I like how the moonbeams tinted the icicles with a hint of color. The black background is actually the woods. I shot that about 4:30 in the morning.
It's one of those cozy up on the couch with my MacBook Pro in front of a blazing fire kind of days interspersed with a little Thanksgiving prep. The last photo looks like Christmas.
Donna
Hi Donna...Thanks for the visit and comments! Yes, today would be a good day curled up by the fire...just watching the snow fall would be just fine! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Beautiful pictures!
I have enjoyed visiting your blog so much!
I especially enjoyed the pictures of the Buck. What a fabulous shot!--my husband has been hunting for days and hasn't hardly seen a deer. There is a good excuse though--the snow is almost three foot deep in the snow belt area where we live.
Again, I sure loved all your pictures!
Blessings to you!
Claudia O.
Hi Claudia...I enjoyed your comments and thanks for stopping by! Three feet of snow?! Now... YOU have a right to complain! The snow piling up that high is great to watch, as long as you don't have to go anywhere. Stay warm!
'Those icy fingers up and down my spine'! You have captured another 'eerie' moment, dear friend! My hat is off to you for these stunning photos.
Hello Joey...Thank you for dropping in and I'm glad you liked the icy fingers! It is fitting for our weather lately. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving with your family!
